Message from Lt. Darrell McNeal 
The Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation serves a population of more than 52,000 people in the North County unincorporated communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow and De Luz. This sprawling 137 square mile command is patrolled by the department’s largest substation which provides a wide variety of public safety services to the community.
Situated on the east side of Camp Pendleton, Fallbrook is home to a large military and veteran population. Outside of the core Downtown area, the semi-rural character of Fallbrook dominates with rolling hills, avocado and citrus groves, nurseries and strawberry fields. Residents of Fallbrook and its surrounding communities identify strongly with the small-town image and are committed to helping to preserve its “Friendly Village” atmosphere. Residents can become involved in many community-oriented activities, groups and projects to help prevent crime. The Sheriff’s Department is committed to a continuous partnership with the community to keep the area a safe place for families and business.
Deputies are on-duty 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. They respond to each and every call for service. In 2023, there were 10,305 calls for service. In addition to responding to calls for service, deputies patrol the community, conduct preliminary investigations, attend community events such as Neighborhood Watch meetings and make presentations to youth groups and schools. Detectives are on call 24 hours a day to respond to major or complex crime scenes.
Senior Volunteers
Senior volunteers have served the Fallbrook Substation and community since 1995. These volunteers contribute many thousands of service hours each year to the community. About 60 dedicated volunteers provide many valuable services to the community including:
- Vacation home security checks
Visit the homebound (You Are Not Alone - YANA) - Enforce disabled parking regulations
- Patrol in marked SVP vehicles
- Assist Crime Prevention with public presentations
- Conduct residential and business security surveys
Volunteers undergo a background check, receive training to perform their duties, and are asked to work a minimum of six hours per week. Volunteers are always in need. If interested, please contact us at (760) 451-3144.
