The San Diego Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force is a regional enforcement team comprised of investigators from various San Diego law enforcement agencies dedicated to the monitoring and enforcement of sex offender registration laws in San Diego County. 

Mission Statement

Through training, monitoring, public sex offender notifications and investigations, the mission of the San Diego SAFE Task Force is to diminish sex crimes and sexually motivated crimes in San Diego County, and apprehend the responsible offenders, thereby increasing public safety.

NEITHER THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE OR THE SEXUAL ASSAULT FELONY ENFORCEMENT (SAFE) TASK FORCE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SELECTION OF PLACEMENT. THAT SELECTION PROCESS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE HOSPITALS AND THE SAN DIEGO SUPERIOR COURT.
