The main reason is to reduce false alarms. When law enforcement is called to respond to an alarm that is accidental or unnecessary, it takes away vital resources from real emergencies, where lives could be at stake.
Keeping your alarm working properly is your responsibility. If you have false alarms that are not taken care of, it could result in fines. If you have a permit, the Sheriff's office will work with you to reduce fines or exempt them if possible. However, if you have false alarms and do not have a permit, the resulting fines will not be waived or reduced since you are not in compliance with the County Ordinance.
