LICENSE AND CRIMINAL REGISTRATION DIVISION

 

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on June 14, 2022, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Diego approved to amend County Ordinance Chapter 19-Sheriff's Regulatory Fees Section 21.1901 of the San Diego County Code of Regulatory Ordinances, related to fees charged for services provided.

The new fees were effective July 14, 2022.  Please note, all fees are based on full cost recovery.

Further, reviewing the fees every year will ensure our department maintains an acceptable revenue to properly and efficiently serve the public in a timely manner.

 

OFFICE HOURS

Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:00pm and closed for lunch 12:00pm-1:00pm.  The phones are off during 12:00pm-1:00pm also.  You must be signed in by 11:00am to be processed in the morning or signed in by 3:00pm to be processed in the afternoon.  Some transactions take up to an hour so this gives us time to complete all necessary steps. 

The San Diego County Sheriff's License Division is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of approximately 32 regulatory ordinances and other State-mandated licensing responsibilities within the unincorporated areas of San Diego County. This Division also handles the criminal registrations for those required by law to meet such requirements, ie: sex offenders, arsonist and gang members.

 

CRIMINAL REGISTRATIONS

Tuesday and Wednesday:  walk-in/no appointment, first come first served.  You must be signed in by 11:00am to be processed.

Thursday:  by appointment only from 8:00am to 11:00am.

It is your responsibility to take care of your registration according to the law.  If you have moved, changed jobs, changed/added vehicles, are going on vacation, etc., please plan your office visit accordingly.  If you have any questions regarding your registration, you may call the office during regular business hours or leave a message on the Registration line at 858-974-2822.

 

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS (CCW) PERMIT

NO INK FINGERPRINTS 

Effective, February 26, 2024 this location (9621 Ridgehaven Ct, San Diego, CA 92123) will not provide ink fingerprint services until further notice.

Please note, if you require assistance to communicate in another language, it is your responsibility to provide an interpreter at your expense.  Some of our documents are available in languages other than English.

  • International Clearance Letters AKA Good Conduct Letters (for foreign countries entry or request) - This process takes three (3) business days. Individuals that want a background check within the United States or for immigration purposes, should contact the Sheriff Records Division at 858-974-2110.
