The Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit is investigating a fire in the unincorporated area of El Cajon.

It happened on Thursday, January 11, just before 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of E. Bradley Avenue. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department received multiple calls about a fire at an apartment complex at that location.  

Deputies from the Lakeside Sheriff's Substation along with firefighters from Heartland, San Miguel and Lakeside Fire Departments responded within minutes. When they arrived, they found a row of 14 garages on the property engulfed in flames. The garages were detached from the apartment complex. It took firefighters more than an hour to put out the fire.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit were requested to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. After the fire was out, detectives identified the garage where the fire began.   

 
On Friday, January 12, detectives identified Mavis Williams (DOB 05/30/1980) as the suspect who started the fire. They also determined Williams and several other homeless persons were living in the garage where the fire broke out. Detectives returned to the location but were unable to locate Williams.

At this time, Williams is wanted for arrest for California Penal Code Section 452 (b) Unlawfully/Recklessly causing a fire to an inhabited structure. She stands 5'6" tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigación de Incendio - Área No Incorporada de El Cajon

La Unidad de Bombas/Incendios Provocados del Alguacil está investigando un incendio en la área No Incorporada de El Cajon.

Ocurrió el Jueves 11 de Enero, poco antes de las 9:30 p.m. en la cuadra 400 de E. Bradley Avenue. El Departamento del Alguacil del Condado de San Diego recibió múltiples llamadas sobre un incendio en un complejo de apartamentos en ese lugar.

Los oficiales del Lakeside Sheriff's Substation junto con los bomberos de los departamentos de bomberos de Heartland, San Miguel y Lakeside respondieron en cuestión de minutos. Cuando llegaron, encontraron una hilera de 14 garajes de la propiedad envueltos en llamas. Los garajes estaban separados del complejo de apartamentos. Los bomberos tardaron más de una hora en apagar el incendio.

Se solicitó a los detectives de la Unidad de Bombas/Incendios Provocados del Alguacil que investigaran la causa y el origen del incendio. Una vez extinguido el incendio, los detectives identificaron el garaje donde comenzó el incendio.

El Viernes 12 de Enero, los detectives identificaron a Mavis Williams (fecha de nacimiento 05/30/1980) como la sospechosa que inició el incendio. También determinaron que Williams y varias otras personas sin hogar vivían en el garaje donde se produjo el incendio. Los detectives regresaron al lugar pero no pudieron localizar a Williams.

En este momento, se busca a Williams para arresto por la Sección 452 (b) del Código Penal de California, por provocar ilegalmente/imprudentemente un incendio en una estructura habitada. Mide 5'6" de altura, tiene cabello castaño y ojos marrones.
