On January 23, 2024, at about 6:30 PM, Deputies responded to an unknown injury vehicle collision involving a rollover vehicle. The location of the collision was W. San Marcos Blvd. near the intersection of Discovery St. in San Marcos.
Upon arrival, Deputies noticed a 2019 Subaru Forester in the number one lane of Eastbound W. San Marcos Blvd. and a blue 2022 Porsche with damage to the driver's side. The Subaru was on its roof with all four tires in the air. Deputies attempted to assist the driver out of the Subaru to no avail. San Marcos Fire and paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after. The 26-year-old male driver was extricated from the Subaru and transported to Palomar Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined the Subaru was initially traveling eastbound on W. San Marcos Blvd. when the vehicle traveled into another lane, striking the Porsche. The collision caused the Subaru to roll over onto its roof. At this time alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
The Medical Examiner's Office will make an identification of the man, as well as determine the cause and manner of death pending notification of his family.

El 23 de enero de 2024, alrededor de las 6:30 p.m., los oficiales respondieron a una colisión de vehículo con heridos desconocidos que involucraba un vehículo volcado. El lugar de la colisión fue W. San Marcos Blvd. cerca de la intersección de Discovery St. en la Ciudad de San Marcos.
Al llegar, los oficiales notaron un Subaru Forester 2019 en el carril número uno de W. San Marcos Blvd en dirección este. y un Porsche 2022 azul con daños en el lado del conductor. El Subaru estaba sobre el techo con las cuatro ruedas en el aire. Los oficiales intentaron ayudar al conductor a salir del Subaru sin éxito. Los bomberos y paramédicos de San Marcos llegaron al lugar poco después. El conductor de 26 años fue sacado del Subaru y transportado al Centro Médico Palomar, donde sucumbió a sus heridas.
Con base en la investigación preliminar, se determinó que el Subaru viajaba inicialmente hacia el este por W. San Marcos Blvd. cuando el vehículo pasó a otro carril y chocó contra el Porsche. La colisión provocó que el Subaru volcara sobre el techo. Hasta el momento el alcohol no parece ser un factor en la colisión.
La Oficina del Médico Forense realizará una identificación del hombre, así como determinará la causa y forma de muerte en espera de notificar a sus familiares.
