The Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit is investigating a structure fire in the unincorporated area of El Cajon.
It happened on Friday, March 15, around 1:00 a.m. in the 1700 block of North First Street. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department received a call from a resident that their house was on fire.
Deputies from the Lakeside Sheriff's Substation along with the San Miguel, Lakeside, Santee and Heartland Fire Departments responded to the location. Units arrived within minutes and found the home fully engulfed in flames.
Four people living at the home were standing outside and advised an elderly female may still be inside. Firefighters conducted a rescue operation, entered the burning home and quickly began looking for the woman. They found her in a bedroom. She was severely burned and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit were called to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The fire was determined to have started in the bedroom where the victim was found. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

La Unidad de Bombas/Incendios Provocados del Alguacil está investigando un incendio estructural en el área no incorporada de El Cajon.
Sucedió el Viernes 15 de Marzo, alrededor de la 1:00 a.m. en la cuadra 1700 de North First Street. El Departamento del Alguacil del Condado de San Diego recibió una llamada de un residente informando que su casa estaba en llamas.
Los agentes de la Subestación del Sheriff de Lakeside junto con los Departamentos de Bomberos de San Miguel, Lakeside, Santee y Heartland acudieron al lugar. Las unidades llegaron a los pocos minutos y encontraron la casa completamente envuelta en llamas.
Cuatro personas que vivían en la casa estaban afuera y advirtieron que es posible que todavía haya una anciana adentro. Los bomberos llevaron a cabo una operación de rescate, entraron a la casa en llamas y rápidamente comenzaron a buscar a la mujer. La encontraron en un dormitorio. Ella sufrió graves quemaduras y fue declarada muerta en el lugar.
Los detectives de la Unidad de Bombas/Incendios Provocados del Alguacil fueron llamados al lugar para investigar el origen y la causa del incendio. Se determinó que el incendio comenzó en el dormitorio donde se encontró a la víctima. La causa del incendio aún está bajo investigación. Sin embargo, el incendio no parece sospechoso.
La Unidad de Bombas/Incendios Provocados del Alguacil es un recurso regional que investiga incendios que involucran circunstancias sospechosas, lesiones graves y muerte.
